I’ve shown up emotionally unprepared to do my job, overlooked things I could have done for my client, been distracted, wandered off, lost sight of them in the crowd, felt impatient, allowed my own wants to interfere with the best interest of the participant.  
Check your why before walking through the door, it will be important when the job gets tough. There’s a misconception about ‘easy money’ & ‘fun work’, the ones who come for the money never last. It won’t be easy to show up every day, be present and attentive to your clients needs. It’s not about what you want, you have to be willing to listen and be receptive to people’s needs and feedback.
This encompasses so many different roles, it’s incredibly dynamic. Establish boundaries but stay receptive to what people want of you.
Everyone you support will be different and have different needs. Stay calm, stay connected, be present.
